Chedham's Yard is a prize-winning heritage site. Currently being restored, it will open to the public in Spring 2012.
Hidden away in Wellesbourne in Warwickshire it is a well-kept secret - a blacksmith’s and wheelwright’s workshop dating from the early 19th century.
The yard was owned and run by seven generations of the Chedham family, the last of whom, Bill Chedham, still lives in the village. The yard is crammed with tools, items made on site and the materials to make them.
The yard is being restored with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and BBC Restoration after it beat churches, chapels and a gallery to win BBC Restoration Village in 2006.
We are currently running an active calendar of events and we are developing volunteer roles in preparation for opening next year.
